Athol Road Primary take YouTube by storm to stamp out bullying

Bullying was identified as an area of concern for students following participation in the Resilience Survey.

Where

Athol Road Primary School, Springvale South, Victoria

Background

After sharing the results of the survey with students a Students Create the Future working group was established of students from Year 5 & 6.

Over a period of months they wrote a song, made a film clip and received sponsorship for polo t-shirts that were sold to the school community at a minimal cost to cover the printing of the logo that one of the junior students created with his family.  This is the result!

Results

Not only did they produce an amazing video clip, had lots of fun and new experiences being involved in the practice and production of it, these young people served as positive role models to their younger peers practicing positive values and relationships.  Early indications show overall increases in Resilience levels of 5% and huge increases of between 8-18% of students reporting they feel safer at school and have an increased level of school belonging.  Keep up the fantastic work Athol Road!
